About product
An app for photographers seeking new ideas and audiences. It allows users to share locations for photoshoots, from popular spots to hidden gems. Content creators can monetize their contributions. The app has no direct competitors.
App Icon
An app icon was designed with light and dark theme variations. The app name Spotlight literally means “to be in the centre of attention”. As a verb, it can also mean “to illuminate”. The name reflects the app’s concept: if you want to “highlight” a top spot and be “in the spotlight,” this app is meant for you. The icon continues this idea, combining symbols of light - a star and its bright trail.
Atomic design system
An atomic approach was used for the design system in the project. Separate elements for Web and Mobile ensured consistency, cohesion, and faster development. The design system can be viewed via the Figma project link provided in the header.
Main page
On the main page, users are greeted with a selection of top spots from the past week. This page introduces users to new “spots” while also helping photographers promote their work and attract new followers and clients. Users can also immediately access the search function or browse spot collections by districts within a selected city.
Map
On the map, users can see all locations marked by photographers. Clicking on a spot opens brief information about it. The popularity level indicates how well-known the location is among photographers, an excellent way to discover that hidden secret spot ;)
Spot page
When visiting a spot’s page, users can view key information about the location as well as marks left by other photographers. This provides a great opportunity to see the same place from different angles and find the best shots and poses for models. Users can also leave their own reviews of the spot in the context of photoshoots.
Photographers' tags
Clicking on a card in the tags section takes the user to the photographer’s photoshoot page for that spot. There are two types of cards: free and paid (Plus subscription). On a free card, the photographer can add information about equipment, lighting, shooting time, and so on, or choose not to provide this information, making it accessible only via the paid subscription (described below). Each photo can be opened by clicking, and the photographer can add camera settings for each shot, with the option to restrict access to this information.
Photographer's profile
In their profile, photographers can share their work and tag the locations of photoshoots. Content can be monetised- users can choose a subscription type to gain access to restricted material. Spots marked as Plus do not appear on the map at their exact location; instead, an approximate area is shown.
Monetisation
Photographer subscriptions are called lightPlus, while the service subscription is lightPro and comes with several benefits. A monthly subscription provides a 20% discount on restricted content, while an annual subscription gives free access to paid content. Users cannot access all content at once, there is a monthly limit on the number of items they can unlock.
